Ekinops teams up with Orange Business to reduce the carbon footprint of its equipment
Announced on October 29, 2026, after the close of Euronext Paris, this plan is part of the Orange Group's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. For Ekinops, a provider of optical network equipment and connectivity solutions, it targets the emissions category that accounts for most of Orange Business's carbon footprint.
Equipment and usage at the heart of Orange Business's carbon footprint
Ekinops has announced its partnership with Orange Business to advance a decarbonization initiative. The plan places Orange Business within the Orange Group's “Trust the Future” strategy, which aims for growth based on trust, innovation and sustainability.
According to the press release, 81% of last year's emissions came from purchases of equipment, its use by customers, associated services and other purchases, including 43% for equipment and its use by customers. The plan targets these two areas with Ekinops.
Ekinops commits to eco-design and energy efficiency of its products
As part of this effort, Ekinops will continue to improve the carbon footprint of its products and will identify reduction levers in production, use and logistics. The provider will also monitor its environmental performance over time.
It will assess energy consumption according to configurations and design modular, repairable and recyclable products. In the long term, Ekinops aims to increase the share of renewable and low-carbon energy in its production.
“This decarbonization plan reflects a genuine partnership focused on measurable environmental benefits,” said Sébastien Bernard, Head of Sustainability and Risk at Ekinops, who considers it “in line with our climate objectives.”
Orange Business will integrate Ekinops's innovations into its networks
For its part, Orange Business will integrate its partner's innovations into the design of its networks and products, and then into its upcoming solutions. The plan also paves the way for future collaborations with other partners.
“This decarbonization plan marks an important step in anchoring sustainability in our operations and our supply chain,” said Sandra Servières, Purchasing Director at Orange Business.
