EssilorLuxottica share rebounds after lowest level since 2022
EssilorLuxottica recovered on Tuesday following a decline to an unprecedented low last Friday since 2022. The rebound occurred in an almost stable Paris market, although the stock remains heavily depressed over longer horizons.
A technical rebound that does not yet offset the pressure from moving averages
EssilorLuxottica gained 1.28% during the session at €150.45, ranking among the strongest gainers in the CAC 40 within an index that remained virtually unchanged (-0.02%). This recovery follows the low reached on Friday, September 5 at €149.75, marking an unprecedented level since 2022 according to available data. Despite this rebound, the stock remains under significant pressure over longer timeframes: the decline reaches 6.17% over seven days and 12.68% over one month. The technical configuration confirms this fragility.
The price stands at €150.45, below the 20-day moving average at €161.06 (gap of -6.59%) and below the 50-day moving average at €165.49 (gap of -9.09%), while the 200-day moving average at €210.20 is even further away. The RSI at 30 reflects a configuration close to oversold conditions, consistent with the deterioration accumulated over recent weeks. The support level at €148.55 remains the closest level to the current price.
Solid fundamentals but underlying pressure on valuation over several months
Operationally, EssilorLuxottica presented on July 28, 2026 half-year results (H1 2026) with adjusted operating income up 15% at constant exchange rates and free cash flow of €1.07 billion, an increase of €100 million. The reported margin (18.6%) is, however, lower than that at constant exchange rates (18.9%), reflecting the unfavorable impact of currencies on euro-denominated figures. The stock decline has now reached 42.05% over one year, illustrating a significant disconnect from previous highs. Analyst consensus on the matter and resistance at €172.30 represent the next two reference points to monitor in assessing the stock's momentum.
