Getlink: freight and passengers up 6% in October, but year-to-date passenger traffic down 1%
Getlink published its shuttle traffic figures for October on 6 November 2026: freight and passengers both grew at the same pace over the month.
This common monthly increase does not have the same effect on the year-to-date figures. Freight remains ahead of 2025, while passenger activity has been down since 1 January.
Freight continues to grow, up 2% since January
In October, LeShuttle Freight carried 105,411 trucks, compared with 99,098 in October 2025, an increase of 6%. Over the first ten months of the year, 989,200 trucks crossed the Channel aboard the shuttles, compared with 971,838 a year earlier, a rise of 2%.
When the group published its figures on 8 October 2026, it reported an 8% increase in truck traffic in September. October follows the same positive monthly trend for freight activity.
Passenger vehicles rise over the month, but do not make up the shortfall
LeShuttle carried 162,655 passenger vehicles in October, compared with 153,929 a year earlier, an increase of 6%. This category includes cars, motorcycles, vehicles with trailers, caravans, motorhomes and coaches.
Year to date, the total remains down: 1,907,953 passenger vehicles since 1 January, compared with 1,935,861 over the same period of 2025, a decrease of 1%. At the end of September, passenger activity was already down over nine months, according to figures published on 8 October 2026.
The group will publish its November traffic figures on 8 December 2026, before the stock market opens.
