Hermès Shares Bounce Nearly 2% But Down 33% Over the Year
The saddler from Faubourg Saint-Honoré partially recovers from its previous day's slump in early afternoon trading. The stock benefits from a strong recovery in the CAC 40, as Parisian luxury generally regains color after several sessions shaken by geopolitical events.
A Rebound That Brings the Stock Among the Top Gainers of the CAC 40
Hermès International shares gained 1.94% to €1,601 during the session, up from €1,570.50 the previous day. The company is among the top gainers in the CAC 40, which is up by 0.45%. This movement is part of a general rebound in Parisian luxury, with Kering up by 1.42% and LVMH by 0.70%. However, the day's surge is not enough to reverse a heavily deteriorated trajectory: the stock is still down nearly 2.6% over the month and more than 33% over the year, in a sector context marked by the decline in jewelry and gold in China (-8.9% year-on-year in May according to official statistics) and a drop of 21.4% in Swiss watch exports to China.
The Stock Remains Below Its Three Moving Averages, with a Neutral RSI
Despite this rebound, the technical configuration remains unfavorable. The price stays below the MM20 at €1,650.78 (a gap of 3%), the MM50 at €1,629.53, and especially the MM200 at €1,923.25, with a gap of nearly 17% reflecting the magnitude of the annual correction. The RSI at 41 remains in the neutral zone and does not send a strong signal, while the support identified at €1,564 holds firm after the previous day's slump.
In terms of valuation, according to the consensus of analysts surveyed, the stock is trading at about 36 times the earnings expected for the current fiscal year and 31 times those of the following fiscal year. During the announcement of the annual results for 2025 on February 11, the company confirmed an ambitious medium-term target for constant-rate revenue growth.
