IBA to Deliver Electron Beam Sterilization Unit in Germany
The Belgian group announced on October 23, 2026 the supply of a fully integrated electron beam sterilization installation for a client whose identity has not been disclosed. According to IBA, this client is among "the most respected players worldwide in the healthcare sector".
An Automated Installation to Sterilize Medical Products
The contract covers an electron beam sterilization solution (E-beam) Be Efficient, which will be installed in Germany. It is designed as a fully automated installation, intended to achieve very high throughput for the sterilization of medical products.
The solution will combine IBA's Rhodotron accelerator, a complete conveying system (Product Handling System), a Beagle production line control system (Production Control System) and an integrated building safety system.

IBA will manage the entire project: design and engineering, project management, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and training. The client plans to start its sterilization activities with this solution in 2029.
As a reference, IBA indicates that the usual price of a Be Efficient irradiation solution ranges between 11 and 18 million euros, depending on the configuration and options.
The Abandonment of EtO at the Origin of the Client's Investment
According to the press release, this investment is mainly motivated by the conversion from EtO sterilization to E-beam sterilization. IBA presents its technology as an alternative allowing to avoid the use of toxic chemicals and radioactive materials.
Thomas Servais, president of IBA Industrial Solutions, describes the signing as "an important achievement for IBA Industrial Solutions". He emphasizes that the group provides an integrated solution, "from design and engineering to installation, commissioning and training".
