IBA to Distribute ARTMS QIS Solid Target Technology, a Telix Group Company
Belgian group IBA is expanding its collaboration with Telix through ARTMS, a Telix group company. The agreement covers worldwide distribution of a solid target technology for cyclotrons intended for the production of radio-metals for theranostics.
IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A.) announced on October 1st, 2026 the signing of a new agreement with ARTMS Inc., a company of the Telix group. Under this agreement, IBA will distribute the proprietary solid target technology for cyclotrons developed by ARTMS, known as the Quantm Irradiation System (QIS).
According to the press release, this technology is currently the only solid target solution for cyclotrons enabling compliant production of gallium-68 (68Ga) and zirconium-89 (89Zr) in the United States. It is referenced in several regulatory dossiers submitted to the FDA for already approved products.

IBA will offer QIS to its new customers as well as to its installed base of cyclotrons worldwide, with the possibility of sourcing, installing and maintaining the accelerator and solid target solution from a single supplier.
QIS will remain compatible with other cyclotron platforms, while ARTMS will continue to serve its existing customers directly. For short-lived isotopes such as 68Ga, QIS enables decentralized, high-yield production of multiple curies.
Accelerating Access to Isotopes for Theranostics
Beyond 68Ga and 89Zr, ARTMS is continuing to develop production processes for other radio-metals such as technetium-99m (99mTc) and copper-64 (64Cu). The collaboration aims to accelerate access to diagnostic and therapeutic isotopes necessary for theranostics development.
Loïk-Maël Nys, President of IBA RadioPharma Solutions, indicated that these initiatives strengthen IBA's strategic vision of supporting the transformation of nuclear medicine towards a theranostic model based on radio-metals. Chad Watkins, General Manager, Isotope Strategy at Telix Pharmaceuticals, emphasized that reliable local supply of gallium-68 and other radio-metals is essential for precision oncology.
