Ipsen: Iqirvo normalizes ALP in 85.3% of Phase III patients, versus 23.3% on placebo
In a press release published on November 5, 2026, Ipsen unveiled the results of the Phase III ELSPIRE study, conducted in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). The company presents the data as ones that “raise the bar” in this disease, and states that its treatment was “generally well tolerated”.
Patients selected by ALP level, compared with placebo
The ELSPIRE study involved people with PBC whose alkaline phosphatase (ALP) level was between 1 and 1.67 times the upper limit of normal. The company describes ALP as a biochemical measure of disease activity.
At week 52, normalization of this marker was achieved by 85.3% of patients treated with Iqirvo. In the placebo arm, this proportion was 23.3%.
