Kaleon Secures Management of Vogogna Castle for Nine Years
Kaleon announced on Wednesday its appointment to manage the Vogogna Castle for nine years, a third-party property. This marks the first external asset integrated into the company's portfolio since its IPO, initiating its expansion strategy through management contracts for third parties.
A Nine-Year Contract for Vogogna Castle
Kaleon won the public tender to manage the Vogogna Castle, located in the eponymous medieval village of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, near Lake Maggiore. The contract spans a period of nine years. This asset, already open to the public, becomes the first third-party property to enter Kaleon's operational scope since its IPO.
The agreement confirms the group's ability to position itself as a partner with public and private entities looking to enhance their cultural heritage. The castle will be integrated into the Kaleon network and will benefit from its established commercial and digital channels, participation in trade fairs, partnerships with tour operators and OTA platforms, as well as a dedicated marketing strategy to increase its visibility and ability to generate new visitor flows.
Enhancing the Offering and Expansion Strategy
Kaleon plans to enhance the castle's offerings with reception and ticketing services, guided tours, educational activities, cultural events, light refreshments, a bookstore, and dedicated merchandising. A particular focus will be placed on engaging the local community through partnerships with surrounding actors and activities aimed at schools and families.
This acquisition expands Kaleon's historic portfolio, which includes the Rocca di Angera and the Cannero Castles, opened to the public in 2025 after a major restoration project. The operation is part of the group's growth strategy, based on strengthening existing sites and integrating new third-party properties in Italy and abroad, following a model developed over more than forty years of experience in cultural and tourist management.
Historical Milestones and Trajectory
Founded in 1983 by the Borromeo family, Kaleon employs 225 people and welcomed more than one million visitors in 2025. The year 2024 generated a turnover of €21.7 million with an operating margin of about 25%. The group has shown an annualized growth of 11% between 2013 and 2024. The award of the Vogogna Castle management follows the takeover of the Pallavicino Park in 2017, another third-party property.
