L'Oréal Shares Climb and Reach the Podium of the CAC 40
The French cosmetics giant is among the top performers in the CAC 40 session. The stock is advancing as a major American bank has raised its price target, in a Parisian market trending upwards.
RBC Capital Raises Target to €450 and Maintains Positive Outlook
This Tuesday, RBC Capital increased its price target on L'Oréal from €430 to €450, while maintaining its outperform rating. At €388.15, the new target price offers a potential appreciation of about 16% over twelve months according to the firm. This boost contrasts with the downgrade mentioned at the end of June, when several brokers had lowered their outlook on the stock. The consensus among analysts remains divided, as shown by recent swings in opinions. The sectoral backdrop provides a point of support: cosmetic sales in China increased by 2.5% year-on-year in May according to the NBS, while Chinese retail trade remains down by 0.6%.
The Stock Moves Above Its Three Moving Averages and Eyes the €390.25 Resistance
On technical indicators, the stock is gaining ground and approaching its resistance at €390.25, a threshold that has already halted several recent attempts. The price at €388.15 is above the MM20 (€383.90), MM50 (€374.16), and MM200 (€371.73), an upward alignment rarely observed in recent months. The RSI at 47 remains in the neutral zone, which leaves room for progression before any overheating signal. The stock has shown +3.4% over one month and +8.4% over three months, extending the momentum started after the technical breakthrough in mid-June. The company has risen to the third position in the CAC 40 session, behind Pernod Ricard and Carrefour, in a luxury and consumption sector that is clearly sought after. Breaking the €390.25 barrier would pave the way towards the spring highs.
