Orange stock falls nearly 3% and breaks through its €15.76 support level
The telecommunications operator is accumulating losses on this Thursday, in a Paris market itself oriented downwards. Today's decline is part of an unfavorable underlying trend over several weeks, which is moving the stock away from its major moving averages and bringing it closer to levels not seen in several months.
A decline of 2.76% that places Orange among the rare stocks in sharp decline on the CAC 40
The Orange stock loses 2.76% to €15.33 during the session, while the CAC 40 itself falls by nearly 1%. The security thus finds itself among the strongest declines in the index, in a session where most securities are declining more moderately. Today's pullback extends an already well-established negative trend: the stock has lost more than 5% over the week and more than 5% over the month, in a context of a calm market, the VIX at 14.88 signaling low overall volatility. Over three months, the decline now exceeds 14%, illustrating the depth of the corrective movement since spring.

The Orange price is now trading below its three reference moving averages. The MA20 at €16.23, the MA50 at €16.35 and the MA200 at €16.37 are all three above the current price, with gaps between 5.6% and 6.4%, which reflects sustained selling pressure. The RSI at 39 is approaching the oversold zone without having crossed it yet, signaling progressive exhaustion of the downward movement without confirmed reversal.
The former support level of €15.76 (previous close) gave way during the session, bringing the next technical reference point into view towards the €17.40 resistance on the upside, with a chart configuration that remains degraded. The stock had however rebounded by 2.5% in early August returning into contact with its MA200, but this movement did not hold: Orange has since fallen well below this level. The €17.40 resistance remains the target to reach to erase the quarterly decline.
