Powerade: CCEP Expands Its Range and Bets on the FIFA World Cup 2026
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) released a detailed overview of its Powerade sports drink on July 15, positioned in the growing market for functional hydration. The announcement emphasizes the brand's portfolio expansion and its global sports partnerships.
An Expanded Portfolio to Address Market Segments
Powerade now comes in several variants tailored to distinct consumer profiles. Beyond the classic range (Mountain Blast, Golden Mango, Cherry, Citrus, Blood Orange), CCEP offers Powerade Zero (sugar-free, including Mountain Blast Zero, Blackcurrant Zero, Lemon Zero), Powerade Active Water (zero calorie, colorant-free), and, since 2026 in Australia, Powerade Sours (a tangy line with Grape Shocker and Peach Pucker). Each variant features a specific formulation: Golden Mango, launched alongside Coca-Cola's partnerships with UEFA Euro 2024 and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, contains vitamin B6 and remains under 20 calories per 100 ml without caffeine. The packaging also varies by market (500 ml, 1 L, 330 ml can).
Localization Strategy and Global Sports Partnerships
CCEP states that 90% of its Powerade beverages are sold in the country where they are produced, allowing for adaptation to local preferences. Globally, the brand leverages major sports partnerships: UEFA Euro, FIFA World Cup, Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, as well as the 2026 Winter Games. Locally, Powerade supports identified athletes and teams: Team Visma (cycling), Kosovare Asllani (soccer), Norwegian Ski Federation, and Swedish Football Federation. For the FIFA World Cup 2026, CCEP has planned in-store activations and three limited editions inspired by the tournament (Outlast, Defend, Attack), associated with contests and promotions for customers.
