Signify maintains 2026 margin target of 7.5 to 8.5%, upper end depends on tariff refunds
Signify published its third quarter results on October 23, 2026, confirming its adjusted EBITA margin target for fiscal year 2026, ranging between 7.5% and 8.5%. The Dutch lighting manufacturer clarified the expected position within this range: the upper end, including refunds of American tariffs received through the third quarter, and the lower end, excluding these refunds.
This dual interpretation is the central point of the publication. According to the guidance, part of the positioning of the annual margin is linked to an element related to American tariffs, while management anticipates the persistence of difficult market conditions in the fourth quarter.
Free cash-flow target maintained between 6.5% and 7.5% of sales
Signify left unchanged its free cash-flow target, expected between 6.5% and 7.5% of sales over the fiscal year. The two indicators of the annual guidance are therefore maintained at the end of the third quarter.
According to As Tempelman, chief executive officer of the group, profitability strengthened from quarter to quarter despite persistent market weakness. He attributes this development to disciplined pricing policy and cost management. The executive also indicates that teams compensated for the increase in input costs as well as supply chain constraints.
The group recalls that adjusted EBITA margin and free cash-flow are non-IFRS indicators, which do not constitute recognized measures of financial performance or liquidity within the meaning of international accounting standards.
OEM and Genlyte improving, acceleration in India and consumer investments
The press release details the progress of the strategic plan, organized around two business portfolios. Within the "Harvest" portfolio, turnaround plans are on schedule according to management, with improving profitability for OEM and Genlyte activities.
Within the "Build" portfolio, the group indicates it is accelerating its growth in India, in lighting and beyond. It reports measures in the Professional activity in Europe and investments in customer acquisition in the consumer segment, accompanied by productivity measures. Research and development spending is concentrated on areas where innovation can generate the highest returns, according to the chief executive officer.
On the extra-financial front, Signify obtained for the seventh consecutive year the Platinum rating from EcoVadis, with its highest score to date. The group had communicated on September 29, 2026 about this overall score of 88 out of 100.
Fourth quarter comparable growth expected stable or slightly lower
For the fourth quarter, Signify expects the persistence of difficult market conditions, with continued pressure on Professional activity in Europe and a slowdown in project demand in the United States. Added to this is a high comparison base in the consumer segment compared to last year.
Consequently, the group anticipates comparable sales growth in the fourth quarter in line with that of the third quarter or slightly lower. Management presented these results to analysts and institutional investors during a conference call held at 9 a.m. (Central European Time) by As Tempelman and Chief Financial Officer Željko Kosanović.
Based on expected earnings per share, the stock trades at approximately 9.7 times current fiscal year earnings, according to the consensus of surveyed analysts. The most structural element of the publication remains the annual guidance: an adjusted EBITA margin at the upper end of the 7.5% to 8.5% range including American tariff refunds, at the lower end excluding these refunds.
