Société Générale Invests €100 Million in Ardian's Averrhoa NBS Fund, Focused on Nature-Based Solutions
Ardian and Société Générale announced on Wednesday the launch of a financial and operational partnership dedicated to nature-based solutions. Société Générale will invest €100 million in Ardian's Averrhoa NBS fund and will serve as a financial advisor to the asset manager.
A Fund Dedicated to Reforestation and Ecosystem Restoration
The Averrhoa NBS fund, overseen by Ardian's Infrastructure team in partnership with aDryada, targets investments in reforestation projects and the restoration of wetlands and mangroves. Classified as Article 9 under the SFDR regulations, the fund aims to sequester 85 million tons of carbon over 40 years, while preserving biodiversity and water resources of local ecosystems. These projects also contribute to climate change mitigation by improving soil and air quality, and by supporting local communities in a context where ecosystem degradation and forest loss remain significant environmental challenges.

As part of the partnership, Société Générale will invest €100 million as a reference investor and will bring its advisory and structuring capabilities through its Société Générale Investment Solutions entity. This collaboration combines Ardian's expertise in infrastructure investment with Société Générale's leadership in project financing and nature-related transactions. The two partners aim to develop high-quality nature-based projects, meeting the growing demand from corporations and financial institutions, and to contribute to the emergence of this category as a long-term investable asset class.
