Sopra Steria Group stock rebounds 3.5% and dominates the SBF 120
After several weeks of downward pressure, Sopra Steria Group recovers ground this Monday and stands out distinctly in a slightly declining SBF 120. The rebound occurs as the security remains positioned below its short and medium-term moving averages, in a market context marked by strong macroeconomic uncertainty.
A marked rebound that restores Sopra Steria among the best performances of the SBF 120
Sopra Steria Group gains 3.58% during the session, at €165.10, in an SBF 120 that declines 0.77%. This rebound places the digital services group among the strongest gains of the index this Monday, contrasting with the downward momentum that has dominated the security since early August. Over the past week, the stock nevertheless remains in negative territory at -3.9%, and its monthly decline reaches 9.24%, which illustrates the extent of the correction to be absorbed. Over three months, however, performance remains positive at +12.54%, a sign that the underlying momentum remains built on bullish foundations.
On the short positions side, four funds cumulatively hold 3.51% of capital sold short according to recorded filings, up 0.65 percentage points over thirty days (compared to 2.86% a month earlier). This level, above the 3% threshold, reflects institutional downward pressure still present around the security. These short positions may signal that investors are hedging or betting on further weakness, but they do not mechanically presage a decline: their evolution remains to be monitored in the coming weeks.
A technical configuration still under pressure despite today's rebound
Today's gain is insufficient to erase the technical scars of the recent correction. The security trades below its 20-day moving average (€174.75, a -5.52% gap) and its 50-day moving average (€169.55, a -2.62% gap), two levels that constitute resistance to overcome to confirm a reversal. Only the 200-day moving average, at €145.28, remains clearly below the current price (+13.64% gap), which defines a long-term floor that is still preserved. The RSI at 36 remains close to the oversold zone, which signals selling exhaustion consistent with today's upturn, without validating a sustainable recovery.
The support at €156.10 constitutes the level to defend in case of renewed pressure. When publishing first half 2026 results (July 29, 2026), the group had raised its annual organic growth target to +2.0%/+2.5%, driven by strong aerospace (+12%) and defense-security-space (+10%) performance. According to the consensus of analysts surveyed, the security trades at approximately 9.1 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year, a modest valuation level for the sector.
