Stellantis Shares Bounce 1.5% and Climb to 2nd Place in the CAC 40
The Italian-American automaker is once again trying to recover in mid-morning trading on the Paris Stock Exchange. The stock is among the leaders of the Parisian index, although it remains heavily penalized over the quarter. The rebound occurs at still tested technical levels.
A rebound within a heavily penalized quarterly context
Stellantis shares gain 1.38% to €5.15 during the session, rising to second place in the CAC 40, just behind Publicis. This movement brings the weekly performance to +6.47%, yet does not close the quarterly decline, which remains close to 31%. Over the year, the stock has lost nearly 35%.
The stock thus remains at levels not seen in several years, after hitting a five-year low at the beginning of July. The sectoral context remains tense: second-quarter deliveries published on July 13 showed a 10% year-on-year increase, without dispelling the mistrust weighing on the stock. The rebound in Brent crude, which continues to rise more than 3% to $90.94 per barrel amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, adds indirect pressure on automakers through fuel costs.
A price still significantly detached from its moving averages and an RSI in the oversold zone
In terms of indicators, the price remains well below its three moving averages: the gap reaches 16% with the MM20 (€6.14), 20% with the MM50 (€6.46), and nearly 33% with the MM200 (€7.71). An RSI at 29 signals an oversold configuration, consistent with the recent weeks' slide and the ongoing technical rebound. The support threshold identified at €5.27 remains the close reference to watch, while the first resistance is around €7.02.
According to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the stock is trading at about 6.3 times the earnings of the current fiscal year and 3.7 times those of the next fiscal year. The next concrete milestone for the stock: the publication of the first half accounts, the date of which will be confirmed by the group, while the target revision by JP Morgan at the beginning of July has already weighed on the recent trajectory of the stock.
