Thales Shares Drop Nearly 2% Amidst a CAC 40 Weighed Down by Iran
The defense electronics group takes a breather after several rebound sessions on the Parisian market. The decline occurs in a Parisian market heavily affected by the resurgence of tensions between Washington and Tehran, impacting the overall stock index. Nevertheless, the stock loses less ground than the index and maintains a weekly gain.
A Measured Retreat in a CAC 40 Burdened by Washington-Tehran Escalation
Thales shares fall by 1.94% to €233.00, while the CAC 40 drops 2.02% to 8,266.14 points. The entire Parisian market suffers from the resurgence of tensions in the Middle East, with American strikes claimed against Iran and an announced Iranian retaliation on military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain. The VIX jumps nearly 11% to 17.90, indicating a marked return of volatility.
The stock, however, limits the damage compared to the steepest declines of the day (Société Générale, EssilorLuxottica, Stellantis, all down more than 4%). Over the week, the stock maintains a gain of 3.65%, driven by several rebound sessions after the late June low. Over a month, the performance is almost stable, barely positive.
