Vallourec stock rebounds and returns to test its 20-day moving average
Vallourec is posting strong gains on Monday, standing out in a nearly stable SBF 120 index. The rebound brings the stock back into contact with its 20-day moving average, a threshold that had not been touched for several weeks, in a technical context still marked by an RSI close to oversold levels.
A marked rebound that places Vallourec among the strongest performances of the SBF 120
During the session, Vallourec gains 2.82% to €18.26, while the SBF 120 remains virtually unchanged (-0.02%). This movement ranks the seamless tube manufacturer among the strongest gainers of the index, in a session with no clear trend in Paris. Over the past week, the stock shows a gain of 3.11%, but this short-term rebound only erases a fraction of the 12.46% decline recorded over the month and 23.66% over the quarter.
The magnitude of these recent losses underscores the gap between very short-term dynamics and the underlying trend, still oriented downward. Over one year, however, the stock remains in positive territory, with a gain of 19.11%.
A fragile technical configuration despite the return to the MA20 and an RSI in oversold territory
The price returns exactly to the contact of the 20-day moving average, set at €18.26, after remaining distant from it over recent weeks. This breakthrough, even partial, constitutes a first stabilization signal to monitor. Conversely, the distance to longer-term moving averages remains significant: the MA50 is at €19.90 and the MA200 at €20.00, or respectively 8.24% and 8.70% above the current price.
These two levels form a significant ceiling in the current chart structure. The RSI at 34 reflects a state of persistent selling pressure, without yet reaching outright oversold levels, but signaling a stock coming out of an exhaustion phase. The support at €17.59 remains the low reference to watch in case of reversal, while the resistance at €22.11 materializes the extent of the path to travel to regain medium-term equilibrium.
