Xilam: Revenue up 37% in first half, loss reduced to €1M
Xilam Animation released its first-half results on September 29, 2026, marked by a reduction in operating losses and revenue growth driven by proprietary productions.
The Paris-based studio confirms the timeline of its feature film strategy, with the theatrical release of Lucy Lost on October 28, 2026, and targets a return to profitability from 2027 onwards.
Sales up 37%, driven by proprietary productions
In the first half of 2026, Xilam's total revenue reached €5.8 million, up 37% compared to €4.2 million in the first half of 2025. Sales of new productions and developments increased by 35%, with proprietary productions representing over 95% of revenues, notably driven by the delivery of the final episodes of the Submarine Jim series.
Catalog sales increased by 39%, supported by Zig & Sharko, with seasons 5 and 6 entering production, as well as the new series Piggy Builders. Including subsidies and other current operating income, total operating revenue reached €7.8 million, up 28%.
Operating loss reduced to €0.9 million
Current operating profit stood at -€0.9 million, compared to -€2.4 million in the first half of 2025, representing an improvement of €1.5 million. The group attributes this change to maintained control of fixed costs and the ramp-up in proprietary production deliveries, particularly Submarine Jim.
Financial results remained limited to -€0.1 million. After accounting for minority interests, the group's net result stood at -€1.0 million, compared to -€2.5 million a year earlier.
Cash position of €3.3 million and Lucy Lost release on October 28
Cash and equivalents totaled €3.3 million as of June 30, 2026, compared to €4.5 million as of December 31, 2025. Net cash, excluding self-liquidating financing, reached €0.4 million, with corporate financial debt of €2.9 million. Self-liquidating debt intended to finance proprietary productions stood at €11.2 million, compared to €4.9 million at end-2025, bringing net financial debt to €10.7 million.
The group notes that this mechanism finances working capital requirements related to production and operates in a manner comparable to factoring, with banks being repaid directly by customers as deliveries are made. Xilam anticipates improved revenues and profitability in the second half, driven by the delivery of Lucy Lost, the final episodes of Submarine Jim and catalog sales. The theatrical release of the feature film Lucy Lost, scheduled for October 28, 2026, marks a milestone in the group's strategy targeting one feature film release per year. Xilam targets a return to growth over the 2026-2028 period and a return to profitability from 2027 onwards.
