ING: Ljiljana ?ortan Appointed Head of Wholesale Banking
ING has announced the appointment of Ljiljana ?ortan as the head of Wholesale Banking, effective February 24, 2026. She will succeed Andrew Bester, who will leave his position on the same day to begin the non-executive phase of his career.
Ljiljana ?ortan will assume her role as head of ING Wholesale Banking starting February 24, 2026. She replaces Andrew Bester, who had announced last October his return to the United Kingdom. Andrew Bester will step down from the Management Board Banking on February 24, 2026, after completing the transfer of Wholesale Banking operations. This appointment has been approved by the European Central Bank.

From February 24, 2026, Ljiljana ?ortan will leave her position as Chief Risk Officer, which she has held since 2021. A selection process to appoint a successor is underway. Until a new Chief Risk Officer is appointed, Ljiljana will remain a member of the Executive Board. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of ING will temporarily take over risk management responsibilities within the Executive Board. The daily management of risk activities will be handled on an interim basis by Andrea Cesaroni, currently Head of Integrated Risk, who will report to the CFO. Andrea Cesaroni has over 25 years of experience in financial services and risk management; he joined ING in July 2022.
