Accor shares among CAC 40's sharpest declines, breaks through support level
The multi-brand hotel group is facing significant selling pressure on Thursday, with the CAC 40 declining by nearly 1.2% amid tensions over French borrowing rates. Barclays adjusted its price target on the stock this morning, while maintaining a positive view on the security.
A 3% decline that places the security below its three major moving averages
Accor loses 3.01% to €44.47 during the session, after closing at €45.85 the previous day. The security is now trading below its 20-day moving average (€46.06), its 50-day moving average (€46.22) and its 200-day moving average (€46.02), with gaps ranging from -3.37% to -3.79% below each of them. This configuration extends a decline that began several weeks ago: the security is down 4.41% over one month and 12.53% over three months.
The RSI at 48 remains in neutral territory, with no oversold signal, indicating that selling pressure has not yet reached an exhaustion level. The support level at €45.11 was breached during the session, which exposes the security to a continued decline toward lower levels in the absence of support, or toward the resistance identified at €47.47 in case of a technical rebound. Over one year, the security still maintains a gain of 10.35%, which puts the recent correction into perspective over a longer timeframe.

Barclays revised its price target on Accor on Thursday, lowering it from €55 to €54, while maintaining an analyst consensus rating of "overweight". Furthermore, according to reported disclosures, three funds hold a cumulative 2.60% of the capital sold short, a level that has increased by 1.10 percentage points over thirty days (compared to 1.50% a month ago).
This rapid rise in bearish positions indicates that a significant fraction of institutional investors is positioning against the security or seeking to hedge an exposure, without it being possible to draw a precise conclusion about the direction of the price. The €225 million share buyback program announced in late July 2026 remains in execution, at approximately 18% of its total amount as of September 25, which constitutes a potential support element for the float.
