AerCap has entered into a firm contract with Airbus for the purchase of 100 A320neo family aircraft, consisting of 23 A320neos and 77 A321neos. According to AerCap, this represents the largest direct order placed by the company with Airbus for this type of aircraft. The order was announced on March 18, 2026, in Toulouse, France.
Strategic Investment in Efficient Technology
AerCap justified this order by its position as the world's largest owner of commercial aircraft and its strategy to invest in energy-efficient technologies. According to Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, this order 'reflects our strong belief in the long-term demand for these highly efficient aircraft and will help meet the ongoing demand we see from our clients for growth and replacement needs.'
