Air Cairo Orders 15 Airbus A320neo, Its First Direct Acquisition
Egyptian carrier Air Cairo has signed a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft. The transaction marks the airline's entry into direct aircraft ownership, supplementing its leased Airbus fleet.

Air Cairo, described in the press release as Egypt's growing national carrier, signed a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft at El Alamein International Airshow 2026.
The agreement, announced on September 8, 2026, introduces direct aircraft ownership alongside the Airbus fleet leased by the airline. According to Airbus, this represents Air Cairo's first direct acquisition.
Supporting Fleet Growth Trajectory
The airline indicates it has grown from seven aircraft five years ago to a fleet of more than 45 aircraft today, with a target of more than 130 aircraft by 2034.
According to Air Cairo, this firm order provides the airline with the capacity, flexibility and operational efficiency needed to develop its connectivity on domestic, regional and international networks.

Hussein Sherif, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Cairo, described the agreement as "a natural step" in the airline's growth, with the combination of owned and leased aircraft offering greater operational flexibility and financial efficiency.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, stated that this first direct acquisition confirmed the airline's confidence in the A320neo. Airbus notes that the A320 family has recorded more than 20,200 orders worldwide and offers at least 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous-generation narrowbody aircraft.
