According to the press release issued by Air Europa, the Spanish airline has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for the acquisition of up to 40 A350-900 aircraft. This agreement is a key part of Air Europa’s long-haul fleet replacement program. The announcement was made at the Dubai Airshow.
Strategic Importance of the A350-900
The group states that the introduction of the A350 model aims to accelerate the renewal of the long-haul fleet, enhancing growth in key Latin American markets. Juan Jose Hidalgo, president of Air Europa, notes that the A350-900 is a strategic asset for major destinations in Latin America, offering operational and economic performance suited to the expansion of the company’s network.
Aircraft Features
The A350 is described by Airbus as the world’s most modern wide-body aircraft, capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles or 18,000 kilometers non-stop. The aircraft incorporates cutting-edge technology and advanced aerodynamics, delivering a 25% improvement in fuel consumption, operating costs, and CO? emissions compared to previous generations. Airbus also notes that the A350 can operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, with a goal of 100% by 2030.
