Airbus Helicopters Initiates Modernization of Marignane-Vitrolles Site
Airbus Helicopters has commenced the construction of a new factory at its Marignane-Vitrolles site, marking a significant milestone in the site's transformation plan. This initiative is part of the strategy to maintain the group's industrial competitiveness in the helicopter sector.
Comprehensive Modernization Plan Underway
Airbus Helicopters is implementing an ambitious plan to overhaul and modernize the Marignane-Vitrolles site, which employs over 12,500 staff members. The site, home to the Airbus Helicopters headquarters, encompasses activities related to design, development, manufacturing, assembly, and flight testing of helicopters, as well as a customer training center and facilities for maintenance and spare parts management. This plan aims to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the industrial tools and to maintain Airbus's position as a global leader in both civil and military helicopters.
Launching the 'NextGen Factory'
Airbus Helicopters has initiated the construction of the 'NextGen Factory', a 31,000 square meter facility designed according to Industry 4.0 standards and strict environmental norms. This factory will consolidate machining and special processes activities for rotors and transmissions. Concurrently, the 'Sud Avenir Hélico' Territorial Pact has been formalized, involving the State, the South Region, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, and the municipalities of Marignane and Vitrolles in a dynamic synergy around a sector representing approximately 20,000 regional jobs. The creation of the 'Helicopter Academy' was also announced, formed in consortium, to provide training in high-precision machining and agile production, benefiting other industrial sectors as well.
