Airbus stock breaks through its €196 support and falls 8% over one month
The European aircraft manufacturer is experiencing a difficult session on Monday, in a context of a declining Paris market and strong volatility on global exchanges. The stock has crossed below a technical threshold that has been monitored for several weeks, intensifying pressure on a security already weakened over the past month.
A €196.10 support breached during the session, the stock remains below its two short-term moving averages
Airbus is down 1.91% at €195.60 during the session, after crossing below its support at €196.10. The stock remains below this level, confirming the intraday breakdown. The technical configuration is deteriorating: the price is evolving below the 20-day MA at €202.78 (difference of -3.54%) and below the 50-day MA at €204.06 (difference of -4.15%), two moving averages exerting short-term downward pressure.
Only the 200-day MA at €189.81 remains below the current price, offering a floor at more than 3% distance. The RSI at 43 does not yet signal clear oversold conditions, which limits the reading of seller exhaustion at this stage. Over one month, the stock shows a decline of 8.13%, in a context where the CAC 40 is down 0.93% during the session.
A market under pressure from central banks and oil, in a decisive week for interest rates
The macro backdrop weighs on Monday's session. The VIX surges 14.65% to 18.16, a signal of renewed nervousness on markets, as a week packed with monetary decisions opens: the Fed meets Wednesday, the Bank of England Thursday and the Bank of Japan Friday. U.S. inflation remained at 3.4% year-over-year in August, which strengthens expectations for a U.S. interest rate hike at this meeting.
Meanwhile, Brent crude rises above $107 per barrel, due to attacks on Saudi Arabian infrastructure and persistent tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, reviving fears of a lasting energy shock and additional inflationary pressures. For Airbus, whose order book remained at a historically robust level according to elements published in the first half, the next identified calendar deadline is the BNP PARIBAS Sustainability Conference on September 17, 2026. The resistance at €215.40 remains more than 10% above the current price.
