Airbus to Integrate Artificial Intelligence into French Armed Forces Systems
The General Directorate for Armament has awarded a contract to Airbus Defence and Space to integrate artificial intelligence components into French military systems.
Contract Details
According to the press release, Airbus Defence and Space has secured a framework contract with a maximum value of 50 million euros. This contract involves the integration of artificial intelligence components into weapon, information, communication, and cybersecurity systems used by the French armed forces.
Collaborative Efforts
Airbus is working with the General Directorate for Armament and the Ministerial Agency for Defense AI (AMIAD), established in May 2024, to develop artificial intelligence technologies for military operations. This initiative is part of the ministerial strategy to strengthen France's technological sovereignty.
Project Scope
The project includes enhancing the Spationav maritime surveillance system with AI, as well as potential applications in intelligence, cybersecurity, and the management of military telecommunications networks. The goal is to use AI to efficiently process data generated by various sensors, while also allowing for optimal storage and structuring of this data.
