Alstom Secures a Mega-Contract of 915 Million Euros for Belgrade Metro
Alstom has won a turnkey contract worth 915 million euros for the delivery of Line 1 of the Belgrade Metro, Serbia's first fully automated metro network. The project includes the supply of 32 Metropolis train sets and the complete integration of operating systems.
Comprehensive Metro Solution for Belgrade
Alstom will provide a fully integrated metro solution to Belgrade Metro & Train, the Serbian public service operator. The contract includes 32 three-car driverless Metropolis train sets, signaling and telecommunications, electrical power supply, tracks, platform screen doors, depot equipment, a centralized control center, and cybersecurity systems. The first phase of Line 1 will cover 15 km with 15 stations, including 11 km of tunnels. The metro will be equipped with Alstom's CBTC Urbalis technology, allowing fully automated operation. The Metropolis train sets will be manufactured at Alstom's site in Valenciennes, France.
Contract Valuation and Financial Support
The contract is valued at 915 million euros and will be accounted for in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2025/26, following the conclusion of the financing agreement. The project benefits from financial support from the French government. Alstom has officially entered the design phase of Line 1. The system will allow operations with intervals of up to 90 seconds and will be supported by an integrated control center and a state-of-the-art cybersecurity platform.
