Alstom Secures €380 Million Contract at Houston Airport
Alstom has been selected by the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston to upgrade and renovate its automated passenger transport system, Skyway. The contract, valued at approximately €380 million, includes the provision of new vehicles, infrastructure upgrades, and system operation for 15 years.
Comprehensive Upgrade and Expansion
Alstom has won a contract to replace the existing automated passenger transport system at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas. The contract includes the construction of a new operations control center, upgrades to the automatic train control and communication systems, the provision of 16 new Innovia APM R shuttles, the modernization of platform screen doors across all terminals, as well as ongoing operation and maintenance of the system. Last year, Houston Airport recorded over 48 million passengers and is undergoing a multi-billion dollar expansion.
Contract Details and Operational Commitment
The total value of the contract is approximately €380 million ($437 million). Alstom will handle the operation and maintenance of the system for 15 years with a dedicated on-site team of 48 people. A replacement bus service will be provided during service interruptions. This order will be recorded in Alstom's financial books in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2025/2026.
Long-standing Partnership Strengthened
Alstom has been operating and maintaining the Skyway system for over twenty years. This new contract builds on a collaboration of more than 25 years and reinforces Alstom’s role as a key partner of the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. In 2024, Alstom achieved a system availability rate of 99.63% for the current system.
