Amoéba Wins Gold Medal at SIVAL for its Biocontrol Solution
Lyon-based greentech company Amoéba has won the gold medal at the SIVAL Innovation Contest 2026 for its AXPERA biocontrol solution, according to a press release issued this Monday. The company and its partner Koppert are preparing for the commercial launch of this solution aimed at vineyards and vegetable crops, pending European approvals.
Recognition at SIVAL 2026
At the 2026 edition of SIVAL in Angers, the jury evaluated 34 innovations across 7 categories, the press release states. Amoéba's AXPERA solution, presented in the plant health, soil and growing media category, won the gold medal. The award ceremony took place on January 14 during an official evening event. During the fair, Koppert held a press conference on January 13 to announce the international launch of the TIAGAN brand, which will replace AXPERA for viticultural uses, according to the company. This step solidifies the collaboration that has been underway between the two partners for several months.
Strategic Developments in 2025
In June 2025, the active substance of Willaertia magna C2c Maky lysate was approved by the 27 EU member states as a low-risk substance, the group recalls. Amoéba also signed a strategic commercial agreement with Koppert, a global leader in biocontrol, granting it exclusive distribution rights for 5 years for vineyards and vegetable crops in 18 European countries and the United States. In October 2025, the company received market authorization in the United States for AXPERA and was awarded the Gold Medal of the Bernard Blum Award. In November 2025, a memorandum of understanding was signed with Syngenta to develop and market biocontrol solutions for the European Union and UK markets, prioritizing cereals and field crops, according to the press release.
Future Prospects and Market Authorization
Amoéba is now awaiting market authorization for the TIAGAN solution in 9 targeted European countries, with a decision expected in the first half of 2026, the company indicates. The company continues its collaboration with Koppert to implement the marketing strategy in the initial targeted European countries, particularly France and Italy, during the course of 2026. Vineyards and vegetable crops will be prioritized. Concurrently, Amoéba continues its investments with subcontractors to prepare for the ramp-up of production, according to the press release. The solution aims to enable vine growers to reduce the use of copper while enhancing the efficacy of plant protection programs, the group specifies.
