ArcelorMittal share declines 1.8% but maintains +125% over one year
The Luxembourg steelmaker is losing ground this Wednesday, in a Paris market globally oriented downwards. Despite this pullback, the recent performance of the share remains clearly positive, driven by an upward momentum initiated several months ago.
A contained decline that does not undermine the solid quarterly progress of the share
ArcelorMittal is down 1.82% in trading at 65.66 €, in line with a CAC 40 that is also declining 1.82% at the same time. The share is positioned in the middle section of the Paris index, far from the sharpest declines of the day. This pullback is occurring in a tense market context, with a VIX rising to 16.5 after closing at 15.3 the previous day, signaling a slight increase in uncertainties.
The correction remains relative when compared to the recent trajectory: the share shows a gain of 3.01% over the week and 11.78% over the quarter, placing ArcelorMittal among the most supported values of the year on the index. Over one year, the rise reaches 125.5%, an exceptional movement that remains the standout feature of the file. When publishing Q1 2026 results (April 30, 2026), the group had maintained its annual guidance unchanged, anticipating production and shipment growth in all regions, with a positive free cash flow target preserved.
Moving averages solidly held despite daily pressure
Graphically, the share remains well anchored above its moving averages. It is trading at 65.66 €, or 2.67% above the 20-day MA at 63.95 € and 8.12% above the 50-day MA at 60.73 €. These two references constitute a solid base under the current price, which is also trading very considerably above the 200-day MA at 51.50 €.
The RSI at 66 is approaching the overbought zone without penetrating it firmly, consistent with an upward dynamic that is marking a pause without a major exhaustion signal. The resistance at 67.54 € remains close: the share had touched a five-year high at 68.42 € in early September, before pulling back. This level now constitutes the next technical reference to overcome to reconnect with multi-year highs recently posted.
