Atos Group Sells Its South American Operations to Brazilian Firm Semantix
On December 26, Atos Group announced the signing of a binding agreement to sell its South American activities to the Brazilian company Semantix. This transaction is part of the group's Genesis transformation plan.
Details of the Agreement
According to the press release, the agreement covers Atos Group's operations in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, and Peru. The scope includes about 2,800 professionals. This divestiture is part of the Genesis transformation plan, which aims to refocus the group on its key geographies and assets, including artificial intelligence and secure cloud-connected solutions. The stated goal is to bring Atos Group back to sustainable growth and improved profitability. The transaction is expected to be finalized in the coming months, once all the prerequisites are met, the group specifies.
Benefits for Semantix
According to the press release, this operation would allow Semantix to expand its service portfolio and become one of the largest providers of enterprise services and artificial intelligence and data technologies in South America. Founded in Brazil in 2010, Semantix would benefit from an expanded client base in the region and a strengthened operational footprint after the consolidation. The Brazilian company would also integrate the operational excellence and organizational culture of Atos in South America, the group indicates.
Leadership Transition
According to the press release, Nelson Campelo, currently head of Atos South America, would assume the position of CEO of Semantix following the completion of the transaction. Leonardo Santos Poça D'água, founder and current CEO of Semantix, would become the executive chairman of the group, focusing on long-term strategy and innovation. As a reminder, Atos Group employs nearly 67,000 people and generates an annual turnover of nearly 10 billion euros. The group is listed on Euronext Paris.
