Carrefour stock among strongest CAC 40 gainers, +5.5% in one month
The retailer is displaying one of the sharpest advances in the Paris index this Monday morning, in a nearly stable CAC 40, confirming its defensive profile in the face of uncertain market conditions. The performance is part of an upward momentum initiated over the past month, which technical indicators are reinforcing today.
A rebound of 1.67% that places Carrefour among the CAC 40 leaders
Carrefour stock gains 1.67% during the session and is trading at €16.47, in a Paris index that is barely advancing by 0.12%. This movement places the stock among the strongest gainers of the CAC 40, in a market where most large-cap stocks remain close to equilibrium. Over one month, the stock has already risen 5.61%, and over one year the gain reaches nearly 31%, reflecting a gradual rehabilitation of the file.
The VIX meanwhile rises to 16.28 on Monday, against 14.87 at the previous close, reflecting a slight uptick in implied volatility on American markets, without signaling any particular tension. In this environment, the retailer's defensive profile continues to attract arbitrage flows toward the stock when risk appetite moderates.
All moving averages back in support, resistance at €16.81 in sight
The price is trading above its three moving averages: MA20 at €16.34, MA50 at €16.12 and MA200 at €15.75. This configuration, where the stock is advancing with a gap of more than 4.5% on the long-term average, underscores the strength of the underlying trend initiated this summer. The RSI at 47 remains neutral, far from any overbought signal, which leaves technical room before the resistance at €16.81. When first-half results were published on July 23, 2026, the group confirmed its annual objectives: growth in current operating income, operating margin up more than 25 basis points and 490 million euros in cost savings already realized out of the 1 billion targeted for the fiscal year.
According to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the stock is valued around 9.5 times expected earnings this year. Furthermore, a bond issuance of 500 million euros at 4.25%, maturing in 2032, was carried out on September 18 to refinance the group's debt. The resistance at €16.81 remains the next level to watch in the ongoing advance.
