China Airlines Expands Fleet with Five New Airbus A350-1000s
China Airlines has placed a firm order for an additional five Airbus A350-1000s, bringing their total orders for this model to 15, according to a press release by Airbus on December 18, 2025.
Expansion of Long-Haul Fleet
The Taiwanese carrier, China Airlines, has announced its decision to acquire five additional Airbus A350-1000s, thus increasing its total order for this aircraft to 15 units. These aircraft will join the 15 A350-900s already in their fleet, designated for long-haul flights. Kao Shing-Hwang, President of China Airlines, emphasized that this expansion reflects the company's intent to enhance competition on long-distance flights and to modernize its fleet to offer a superior travel experience.
Strengthening a Long-standing Partnership
Benoit de Saint-Exupery, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, expressed his excitement about this new order, which strengthens the long-standing partnership between Airbus and China Airlines. He noted that the selection of the A350-1000, with its next-generation efficiency, extended range, and enhanced comfort, supports the airline's future network ambitions.
Features and Innovations of the A350-1000
The Airbus A350-1000 is distinguished by its ability to travel up to 9,800 nautical miles non-stop, setting new standards for intercontinental travel. Equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines and lightweight materials, it offers a 25% fuel economy compared to previous generation competing aircraft. Additionally, its Airspace cabin design ensures optimal comfort for passengers and crew. Airbus is also working to increase the A350's capability to use up to 100% sustainable aviation fuel by 2030.
