Crédit Agricole Reports a Net Income of 8.75 Billion Euros in 2025, Up by 1.3%
On Wednesday, Crédit Agricole Group announced its annual results for 2025, showcasing a net income of 8,754 million euros, a 1.3% increase over twelve months. This performance, driven by record revenues and the robustness of all business sectors, is accompanied by a proposed dividend increase to 1.13 euros per share.
Financial Performance and Strategic Growth
Crédit Agricole Group recorded a net income of 8,754 million euros in 2025, marking a 1.3% increase from 2024. This achievement is based on a record net banking income of 39,558 million euros, up by 3.9% year-on-year. The group generated substantial revenues that absorbed an exceptional corporate tax surcharge of 280 million euros for the group and 147 million euros for Crédit Agricole S.A. The annual results are considered high with a return on tangible equity of 13.5% for Crédit Agricole S.A., reflecting the group's profitability. The cost of credit risk was set at 3,452 million euros, up by 8.2% from 2024, while the cost of risk on outstanding amounts reached 28 basis points. The group also continued its commercial growth momentum with 2.1 million new clients acquired during the year 2025. These results confirm the trajectory set by the strategic plan ACT 2028 and demonstrate the group's resilience amid macroeconomic uncertainties.
Dividend Proposal and Financial Stability
Crédit Agricole S.A. proposes a 2025 dividend increase to 1.13 euros per share, a 3% rise from 2024. The group maintains high solvency ratios, with a phased CET1 ratio for Crédit Agricole Group at 17.4% and a CET1 for Crédit Agricole S.A. at 11.8%. The annual refinancing program for 2026 has been executed at 32% as of January. In terms of capital structures, the group's operating expenses amounted to 23,568 million euros in 2025, up by 3.7% from 2024, due to business development, IT expenditures, and integration of perimeter effects. The group's operational coefficient stands at 59.6%, stable at -0.1 percentage point from 2024, indicating cost control. The gross operating income increased by 4.3% to 15,990 million euros. For Crédit Agricole S.A., the net income amounted to 7,074 million euros, stable compared to 2024, with an operational coefficient of 55.7%, up by 0.9 percentage points.
Sustained Commercial Momentum
The group's commercial dynamics remain strong with significant commercial conquest activity across all business sectors. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the group acquired 517,000 new clients in retail banking, including 401,000 in France and 116,000 internationally. Retail banking collection balances in France and Italy rose by 1.2% year-on-year to 847 billion euros. Mortgage lending in France continued its rebound with a 9% increase in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to the same quarter in 2024. In asset management, Amundi recorded a record net collection of 88 billion euros for the year 2025, up by 58% from 2024. For 2026, the group is launching several strategic initiatives: in France, digitalization of housing paths with a fully digitalized agreement launched in the fourth quarter of 2025, development of offers for young people and professionals. Internationally, the group plans to launch a digital savings platform and a daily banking offer in Germany in 2026, supplemented in 2027 by an off-balance sheet collection offer. In Asia, CACEIS will open a branch in Singapore in 2026. These initiatives are part of an ambition to acquire 2 million clients in Germany and over 40 billion euros in collected funds in Europe via the digital platform by 2028.
