EgyptAir Receives Its First A350-900 Airbus of 16 Ordered
EgyptAir took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 on February 9, 2026. The airline becomes the first operator of this type of aircraft in North Africa, with a total of 16 aircraft ordered.
Launch of the A350-900 in North Africa
EgyptAir has received its first of 16 ordered Airbus A350-900s. With this delivery, the airline becomes the launch operator of this type of aircraft in North Africa. The A350 is intended to support the modernization of EgyptAir's long-haul fleet and the expansion of its network, with new non-stop routes to key destinations including the West Coast of the United States and North Asia from its Cairo hub. EgyptAir currently operates an Airbus fleet comprising eight A320neos, seven A321neos, and eleven aircraft from the A330 family, including five A330-200P2Fs.
Cabin Configuration and Passenger Comfort
The A350 ordered by EgyptAir is configured in two classes: 30 business class suites with direct aisle access and 310 economy class seats. The aircraft features the latest generation Airspace cabin, designed to enhance the long-haul experience for passengers and crew through improved ergonomics and increased comfort.
Advanced Capabilities and Environmental Benefits
The A350-900 can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometers) non-stop. The aircraft is equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines and lightweight materials, offering a 25% advantage in fuel consumption, operating costs, and carbon dioxide emissions compared to previous generation competing aircraft. The A350 is already capable of operating with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel. By the end of January 2026, the A350 family had secured over 1,500 orders from 67 customers worldwide.
