Engie's Stock Soars 4% Breaking a Key Resistance, Among Top Gainers in CAC 40
The energy company marks one of the best performances in the CAC 40 in mid-morning trading, going against the trend of a slightly declining Parisian index. The stock has broken through a technical resistance closely watched for several sessions, amid easing oil prices.
The Stock Breaks its Resistance at €27.59 and Climbs to the Podium of the CAC 40
Engie's stock rises by 3.95% to €27.60, among the top gainers in the CAC 40 while the index itself is down by 0.17%. The stock has surpassed its resistance level of €27.59 during the session, a barrier that had been capping progress for several weeks, and it remains above this level. This breakthrough repositions it above its three moving averages, with a gap of 2.11% over the MM20 (€27.03) and 12.88% over the MM200 (€24.45).
The RSI at 49 remains in the neutral zone, currently not indicating any excessive buying pressure. Over one year, the stock shows a gain of 33.68%, even though the monthly performance was capped at 0.26% before today's session.
A Rebound in the European Energy Sector Driven by Market Context
The rise occurs as Brent crude has dropped to a four-month low, around $70.7, due to the normalization of flows through the Strait of Hormuz and what are considered constructive talks between Washington and Tehran. This reduction eases the geopolitical risk premium and gives central banks more leeway on the inflation front, creating a generally favorable environment for European utilities. Concurrently, the company announced this week the development of over 400 km of transmission lines in Peru for $230 million, as part of a 30-year concession, which strengthens its portfolio of regulated infrastructure in Latin America. The next technical level to watch is the resistance identified at €29.53, now in sight after today's breakthrough.
