Engie commissions 450 MW of solar in India, in Rajasthan and Gujarat
In a press release published on 29 October 2026, the group presented these commissionings as a milestone in its growth in the country, where it states it has around 2 GW of capacity in operation or under construction. Engie reaffirmed its strategy of combining renewable generation with flexibility solutions.
Khaba and Khavda: two solar parks in Rajasthan and Gujarat
The Khaba project, located in Barmer, Rajasthan, has a capacity of 250 MW. It was developed by Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Engie, and is expected to produce around 650 GWh of electricity per year, which will avoid the emission of nearly 180,000 tonnes of CO₂.
The Khavda solar park (200 MW), located in the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, in the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, was developed by Enren II Energy Private Limited. It will supply around 350 GWh per year to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
Engie stated that it has completed the full commissioning of both projects. According to the group, around 80% of the workforce mobilised for their construction was recruited locally.

These commissionings follow the award of Engie's first battery storage projects in India: a 280 MW / 560 MWh system in November 2025, then a hybrid project combining 200 MW of solar and 100 MW / 600 MWh of storage in January 2026.
Pedro Vasconcelos, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of the Renewable & Flexible Power business, described India as a “key growth market” for the group. He cited as priorities “renewable power purchase agreements (cPPAs) with corporates” and “combining renewable generation with energy management and flexibility solutions.”
