Engie stock breaks through 24.96 € support and loses 12% over the month
The energy group retreats significantly during trading, in a Paris market oriented downward. The downward breach of support worsens an already substantial decline over the month, while the CAC 40 itself loses nearly 1%.
A key support level surrendered during trading under selling pressure
Engie falls 2.36% to 24.37 € during trading, after breaking through its support threshold at 24.96 € on the downside. This level, now lost, constituted the key technical floor in the short term, and the security has remained well below it since this breach. The RSI drops to 35, approaching the oversold zone, reflecting the accumulated selling pressure over recent weeks rather than a simple consolidation for the day.
Over one month, the loss reaches 12.31%, representing a decline much broader than that of the market as a whole. The next resistance to monitor is located at 27.79 €, an increase of over 14% above the current price.
Three moving averages breached downward and a solid half-year that is not enough
The price of Engie now trades below its three reference moving averages: the MA20 at 26.00 € (difference of -6.27%), the MA50 at 26.63 € (-8.49%) and the MA200 at 25.85 € (-5.73%). This configuration, where the security falls below all its moving averages, illustrates a downward dynamic in the short and medium term. However, the group had raised its annual recurring net profit guidance for the Group on July 31, 2026, following a half-year EBIT excluding nuclear of 5.3 billion euros up 1.2% on an organic basis.
This solid publication does not prevent the security from suffering from a deteriorated market context, in which the VIX remains contained at 14.88 but where defensive and energy stocks are retreating. Over one year, Engie still shows a positive performance of 35.54%, which testifies to the scale of the turnaround that occurred since the summer.
