Eviden (Atos) and AllWayTon Launch the First Triple-Mode FRMCS/5G/GSM-R Smartphone
Eviden, the product brand of the Atos group, has concluded an exclusive partnership with AllWayTon Technology. The objective: to offer rail stakeholders a single terminal capable of operating on current GSM-R networks and the new FRMCS standard, while ensuring connectivity on public 5G networks.
A Single Smartphone to Support Rail's Migration to FRMCS
Eviden announced on September 22, 2026, from Paris, an exclusive partnership with AllWayTon Technology to deliver what the two companies present as the first triple-mode FRMCS/5G/GSM-R smartphone on the market.
The terminal combines AllWayTon's triple-mode device with Eviden's MCX Client, a critical communications application enabling secure push-to-talk, data, and video services. Rail professionals can thus access existing GSM-R communications and next-generation FRMCS services via a single device.
GSM-R remains central to railway communications, but infrastructure managers and operators are preparing its gradual replacement by FRMCS. Based on 5G and MCX technologies, FRMCS is the next-generation railway communication system specified by the UIC (International Union of Railways).
A Combination of Hardware and Software Expertise
Eviden's MCX Client is part of the Lifelink MCX Connect portfolio, which includes servers and clients, interworking functions, operator console, rail-ground-train radio, TOBA, recording systems, and railway applications.

The solution is presented at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, from September 22 to 25, at Eviden's stand (hall 4.1, stand 570) and AllWayTon's stand (hall 7.1b, stand 255).
