Figeac Aéro Selected to Produce Parts for the Modernized Leclerc Tank
Figeac Aéro has been chosen to manufacture parts for the French army's Leclerc tank modernization program. This five-year contract, with series production scheduled for 2027/28, comes as the company is expanding its presence in the defense sector.
Production of Aluminum Parts for Optronics and Navigation
Through its specialized subsidiary Mécabrive Industries, Figeac Aéro will produce a range of small and medium-sized aluminum parts for the optronic and navigation systems of the French army's Leclerc tanks. Integrated into the tank's modernization programs, these systems enhance capabilities in vision, detection, recognition, and precision. Mécabrive Industries, part of Figeac Aéro's Defense & Energy division, was recognized for the competitiveness of its industrial solution in this selection process. The defense agency (DGA) and the French army initiated this program before considering a potential replacement of the tank around 2035.
A Five-Year Contract with Production Ramp-Up in 2027/28
The contract spans five years, with series production slated for the fiscal year 2027/28. This selection reflects the determination of governments to bolster their defense capabilities amid increasing geopolitical instability, particularly in Europe where defense spending reached $900 billion in 2025, marking a 14% increase from 2024.
Figeac Aéro Strengthens Its Position in Defense
This new contract adds to the group's recent successes in the defense sector, including its involvement in aerospace defense programs such as the Rafale.
