Figeac Aéro Acquires Thermal Treatment Facility from Bodycote, Its 15th Production Site
The aerospace subcontractor has acquired a facility specializing in thermal treatments from British group Bodycote, located in Cambes (Lot). Renamed Figeac Aéro Cambes, it becomes the group's 15th production site.
An Acquisition Aligned with Strategic Plan Presented in June 2026
Figeac Aéro announced on October 13, 2026, that it has completed the acquisition of Bodycote Sud-Ouest, a subsidiary of British group Bodycote specializing in thermal treatments for aerospace. The facility combines several complementary specialized processes: electron beam welding, radiography, and a wide range of thermal treatment operations. According to the group, these activities fall within its expertise in surface treatment and non-destructive testing.
The operation is part of the strategic initiatives unveiled in June 2026. These are based on three pillars: internalization of surface treatment activities, development of capabilities in the defense segment, and more broadly, opportunistic integrations within the value chain. Bodycote Sud-Ouest directly addresses the first pillar.
The mechanism sought is vertical integration. The group emphasizes a "strong potential for re-internalization" and development of high-value-added services, in other words the possibility of performing treatment and inspection operations in-house. The acquisition should also, according to the statement, integrate critical competencies for the aerospace and defense supply chain.
Thomas Girard, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the group, presents the operation as "a new step in the deployment of the strategic initiatives we presented last June." He assigns it three objectives: "strengthen our vertical integration," "secure rare industrial expertise," and "support the ramp-up of strategic programs." The executive also mentions the site's development "toward PILOT 28 and beyond."
Pro-Forma Revenue Expected Near €5 Million by March 2028
From a financial perspective, the group indicates that the site's pro-forma revenue should approach €5 million by March 2028. This amount should be measured against Figeac Aéro's annual revenue of €486.8 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026. The expected contribution of the operation is therefore more significant on the industrial front than in terms of the size of the consolidated business.
The site's order book is primarily linked to scopes of the Airbus A350 twin-aisle program. This focus concentrates the commercial exposure of the new entity on a single aircraft, whose production rates will largely determine the activity of Cambes. The latter falls within the group's consolidation scope, which now has 15 production sites spread across 8 countries.
The first financial figures following the operation will be included in the financial calendar published by the group. Figeac Aéro will publish on November 18, 2026, its revenue for the second quarter and first half of fiscal year 2026-27. A webcast for individual investors is scheduled for November 19, 2026, before the publication of half-year results on December 8, 2026.
Cambes Set to Become a Center of Excellence for Specialized Processes
Figeac Aéro has indicated its intention to make the site a center of excellence for specialized processes and to continue its industrial and commercial development. The stated objective is to better support the increase in production rates expected by the group in both aerostructures and engines.
The integration of these competencies should also strengthen the group's positioning as a supplier capable of handling the full manufacturing of metal parts and sub-assemblies. Thomas Girard further mentions commercial and industrial developments that are "already" planned for the site.
