Forsee Power to Equip Eight Battery Trains for Croatian Manufacturer Končar
Forsee Power has announced that Croatian rolling stock manufacturer Končar has chosen its ZEN 55 LFP RAIL battery system to equip its new generation of battery trains. Končar has placed an initial order for eight trains intended for operation in Croatia.
A Battery Supply Contract for Regional Trains
Končar, the leading manufacturer of railway vehicles in Croatia, has selected the Forsee Power ZEN 55 LFP RAIL battery for its battery multiple units (BMU and BEMU). These two or three-car trains are designed to serve non-electrified lines, using Forsee Power battery systems for propulsion, auxiliary services, and regenerative braking. The initial order covers eight trains for operation in Croatia, running on existing railway networks, including 25 kV catenary lines and Koncharge charging points.
The trains will be able to carry between 200 and 300 passengers and ensure full interoperability with the existing railway infrastructure, including signaling and apparatus.
Technical Features of the Selected Battery System
The ZEN 55 LFP RAIL is a modular system designed for demanding railway applications. Comprising 55 kWh modules, it offers flexible configurations from a few kilowatt-hours to multi-megawatt-hour systems, adaptable to both hybrid and fully electric applications. The system supports voltage architectures up to 1,500 V, allowing seamless integration into existing transmission chains and deployment across a wide range of rolling stock.
Based on LFP chemistry, the system boasts a lifespan of up to 7,000 cycles and a reduced total cost of ownership. It meets the strictest railway standards, including EN 50126 SIL2, as well as international standards IEC 62928, IEC 62619, IEC 62620, IEC 61373, and EN 45545. Forsee Power battery systems are entirely designed by its engineering teams and manufactured in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America.
Forsee Power's Strategic Positioning in Railway Decarbonization
This order is part of an acceleration of Forsee Power's partnerships in the railway sector. Forsee Power has equipped more than 5,500 heavy vehicles and 150,000 light vehicles with its battery systems. The group, which employs 600 staff and is based in Ivry-sur-Seine, has received EcoVadis Gold certification for its commitment to sustainable development.
