French auto market: Renault advances 4.41% in July, Stellantis declines

The Renault Group outperforms, Stellantis loses ground

With 38,164 light vehicles registered in July, the Renault Group gains 4.41% year-over-year and increases its market share to 24.82%, a growth slightly higher than that of the overall market. Stellantis, the leading group in France, remains ahead in volume with 42,365 units and 27.56% market share, but declines 2.35% in a rising market, a relative underperformance. On the cumulative basis since January, both groups are declining: Renault at 317,600 units (-1.14%, ms 26.63%) and Stellantis at 341,938 units (-1.65%, ms 28.67%).

At Renault, the brand pulls, Dacia brakes

The July momentum of the Renault Group is based on the eponymous brand, which jumps 10.29% to 27,632 registrations (17.97% market share) and displays a year-to-date cumulative increase of 1.80%, at 233,244 units. Dacia diverges significantly, with a decline of 11.10% for the month at 9,996 units and a cumulative drop of 10.09%, at 79,927 registrations. Alpine, on modest volumes, more than doubles its activity to 536 units (+112.70%). Meanwhile, Stellantis declines more than the market, which advances 3.7%, amid the electric transition: electric now accounts for 29.10% of the car market on a cumulative basis, compared to 17.50% a year earlier.
