Gimv Acquires Groupe Cap Vert, French Leader in Tree Management, from Ambienta
European investment fund Gimv announces the acquisition of Groupe Cap Vert, the leading French multi-specialized provider in critical tree and vegetation management, from the Italian fund Ambienta. The transaction, carried out alongside CEO Eric Girot and his management team, aims to accelerate the organic growth of the French consolidation platform.
A Platform Generating €180 Million in Revenue
Founded in 1984, Groupe Cap Vert has established itself as the French multi-specialized leader in critical tree and vegetation management. The group generates nearly €180 million in annual revenue and employs over 1,200 staff across a network of nearly 60 branches covering the entire French territory. The platform is structured around four centers of excellence: trees (pruning, ecological engineering, invasive species management), landscape (urban creation and maintenance), water (irrigation and fountain systems), and infrastructure (vegetation management around critical linear networks). This multi-specialized organization allows it to meet varied client needs and provide high-value-added technical services.
Eighteen Acquisitions in Four Years Under Ambienta's Guidance
Since Ambienta's capital entry in December 2021, under the leadership of Eric Girot, Cap Vert has consolidated its leadership position by integrating more than eighteen specialized companies. This acquisition strategy has expanded the service portfolio and extended the group's geographical presence across France and Europe, leveraging the agility and technical expertise of these entities. The group enjoys particular recognition in ecological engineering, supported by proprietary innovations and niche skills in the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of natural ecosystems, addressing urban greening initiatives, biodiversity conservation, and infrastructure adaptation to climate challenges.
Ranked Among the Top Ten Holdings in Gimv's Portfolio
Gimv's investment alongside Eric Girot and the management team positions Cap Vert among the top ten holdings in Gimv's current portfolio, which manages more than €2 billion in assets. This operation is part of the Belgian fund's strategy to accelerate its growth through high-potential consolidation platform investments, aligned with the investment themes of its Sustainable Cities platform.
