Ipsen: Stock Dips Below €140.50 Support Then Recovers Above Key Level
The Parisian biopharmaceutical company rebounds in early afternoon trading, amid a declining Paris market. The move follows a breach of a closely monitored technical threshold that was quickly erased. The stock emerges from a month of marked decline.
Support Breached Then Recovered in a Rebound Session
The Ipsen share gains 1.58% to €141.80 while the CAC 40 declines 0.58% and the SBF 120 falls 0.5%. During the session, the stock broke through its €140.50 support level, touching a low of €139.90, before recovering above it. This rebound remains modest against the recent trend: the stock has fallen 13.9% over one month and 16.93% over three months, with the RSI at 29 reflecting an oversold configuration.
The price remains below its three moving averages, 6.51% below the 20-day MA (€151.68). Selling pressure intensified following U.S. approval of a Somatuline generic, granted to Amneal on September 21. Notably, Barclays had also downgraded its rating and price target on September 8.
H1 2026 Targets Raised and a Valuation of 9.4x Earnings
Upon publication of first-half 2026 results on July 30, the group raised its financial targets for 2026, based on several blockbuster-potential asset launches and positive Phase III results for Dysport in migraine. Among the risks cited on that occasion is precisely the arrival of lanreotide generics, which compete with Somatuline. According to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the stock trades at approximately 9.4x current-year earnings and 10.2x next-year earnings.
Over a twelve-month period, the group also repurchased €71 million in shares, representing 0.6% of its market capitalization, with the latest disclosure dating from September 18. The €140.50 level is now the key technical reference point to monitor in upcoming sessions.
