Attractive Micro-Ecosystems for Fauna and Flora

The experiment involves 19 pieces of urban furniture integrated into a global strategy for ecological continuity. Since 2024, the 17 nesting boxes on the route have recorded increasing nestings. Between April and May 2026, eight nesting boxes were occupied by great tits or blue tits, resulting in the birth of about twenty chicks. The vegetated spaces with nectariferous species attract a wide variety of insects, including 11 identified pollinator species (domestic bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and others). This attendance confirms the ecological attractiveness of the devices and their transformation into true refuges for biodiversity.

Urban Furniture Serving Ecological Continuity

Following new products and services invented by JCDecaux (bus shelters, MUPIs, automatically maintained public toilets, self-service bicycles, and digital furniture), the greening of urban furniture continues this innovative dynamic. JCDecaux continues this momentum by installing new nesting boxes, particularly on already vegetated bus shelters, to provide optimal conditions for welcoming other bird species. The group considers this experiment a demonstration that urban furniture can become a true link in ecological continuity.
