JDE Peet's Launches TNFD-Aligned Nature Transition Plan
On Thursday, JDE Peet's unveiled its Nature Transition Plan named 'Grounded in Nature', a structured program aimed at protecting ecosystems and securing coffee supply chains. The company thus becomes the first in the food and beverage sector to publish such a plan fully aligned with the TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) framework.
Comprehensive Environmental Strategy
JDE Peet's Nature Transition Plan aligns with the TNFD framework, the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), and the Science-Based Targets for Nature (SBTN). The plan turns sustainability commitments into measurable, time-bound actions. It builds on the Common Grounds program, launched in 2015, which has reached nearly a million farmers to date. The stated goal is to contribute to global nature-positive objectives while maintaining supply diversity in coffee-producing countries.
Immediate Risks and Industry Collaboration
According to Laurent Sagarra, VP of Engagement at JDE Peet's, nature-related risks are no longer distant threats but are currently impacting coffee farmers and global supply chains. JDE Peet's presents this plan as a clear roadmap and a call to action for the coffee industry to collaborate with governments, NGOs, and farmers to reduce biodiversity loss and secure the future of the sector.
