Mexedia S.p.A. has positively welcomed the European Parliament's resolution on the minimum age for accessing social media, emphasizing the importance of creating secure digital environments.
Adoption of the Resolution
The European Parliament adopted a non-binding resolution on November 26, 2025, proposing to set the default minimum age for accessing social media and digital video services at 16 years. According to Mexedia S.p.A.'s statement, an absolute threshold of 13 years is also proposed, below which access would be prohibited. The resolution also aims to strengthen age verification systems and encourage cautious use of algorithms to protect young users.
Educational Projects on Digital Safety

These initiatives, aimed at students, families, and teachers, cover digital identity, time spent online, and the prevention of cyberbullying. Anna Lisa Trulli, head of Mexedia's Benefit Unit, emphasized the importance of incorporating immersive technologies in these programs to promote responsible and secure digital usage among young people.
Impact on Regulatory Framework
Mexedia believes that the European Parliament's resolution could significantly influence the digital regulatory framework and platform practices.
