Michelin Guide Germany 2026: L.A. Jordan Joins the Exclusive Three-Star Circle
The 2026 Michelin Guide Germany awards 339 starred restaurants. L.A. Jordan in Deidesheim, a rural wine region, joins the exclusive circle of three-star establishments, marking a shift in selection towards rural Germany rather than major urban areas.
L.A. Jordan: First Three-Star in a Rural Area in Several Years
Located in Deidesheim in Rhineland-Palatinate on the wine route, L.A. Jordan joins the twelve three-star restaurants in the 2026 selection. The establishment, situated on the lands of the historic Bassermann-Jordan vineyard, is noted for its creative and minimalist cuisine. Michelin inspectors highlight the chef's ability to enhance exceptional ingredients, including an original creation of fish and seafood, and emphasize the welcoming sommelier and the quality of service. This promotion marks a departure from previous trends where three-star establishments were primarily concentrated in urban Germany. The 2026 edition thus values culinary excellence in rural wine regions.
Four New Two-Star Restaurants and Progress in Lower Categories
The 2026 Michelin Guide Germany features 48 two-star restaurants, including four newcomers. The Cloud by Käfer, located in Munich at BMW Welt and led by Jens Madsen, introduces a concept of 'culinary nomadism' that reinterprets a different world region each year. The Dune in Frankfurt am Main under the direction of Niclas Nußbaumer, and Rausch also in Frankfurt offering minimalist cuisine focused on ingredients, both earn two stars right away. Mühle in Schluchsee is promoted from the status of a 'worth a stop' establishment. In total, 279 one-star restaurants complete the selection, including 20 newcomers. The 2026 edition also counts 147 Bib Gourmand awarded restaurants, with 10 new entries, highlighting the accessible and high-quality gastronomic offerings distributed across the country.

The Sommelier Award recognizes Noris F. Conrad from the restaurant Tantris in Munich for his expertise and guidance in pairing food and wine. The Cloud by Käfer receives the Opening of the Year Award in recognition of its innovative concept.
