Michelin Shares Climb 2.5% and Challenge the €34.48 Resistance
The Clermont-based manufacturer benefits from a generalized rebound in the Paris stock market, following a marked decline in the oil barrel after the framework agreement between Washington and Tehran. The stock continues the momentum started at the end of last week and consolidates its gap above its technical benchmarks.
The Stock Breaks the €34 Resistance Due to Brent's Decline
Michelin's stock gains 2.47% at €33.96 during the session, among the highest rises in the CAC 40, which is up nearly 1%. The stock is approaching its identified resistance at €34.48, after breaking the psychological threshold of €34. This movement is part of a favorable sectoral dynamic: Brent falls by 3.48% to $84.29/barrel following the announcement of a framework agreement between the United States and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which reduces the pressure on the petrochemical input costs for the tire manufacturer.
The technical configuration remains supportive: the price is evolving above its three moving averages, with a gap of 7.5% on the MM20 (€31.59) and 12.15% on the MM200 (€30.28). The RSI at 66 approaches the overbought zone without crossing it, reflecting the strength of the movement initiated over the past month. Over this period, the stock has gained nearly 7%, and 14.5% over three months.
Specialty Tires and Industrial Refocusing in the Background
Beyond the session context, during its Media Day on June 9 and 10, the group highlighted the specialty tires segment, presented as a strategic pillar representing 17% of the revenue and displaying profitability above the group's average. This focus aims to offset the pressure on volumes in the consumer segment. Concurrently, the workforce adaptation project in France, announced at the end of May and planning up to 1,500 job cuts over three years through voluntary departures, remains a structural element of the cost adjustment strategy. Next technical benchmark to watch: the €34.48 resistance, whose breach would pave the way for an extension of the bullish movement.
